I Just Really Like It: Volume 5
Featuring woven coasters, a blush-bronzer, an investment-worthy dish rack, and more.
Happy Thursday, folks! This week’s newsletter is heavier on kitchen gear, but with some beauty recommendations sprinkled in. I hope you enjoy it!
Zoya Remove Plus 3-in-1 Formula Polish Remover
When I purchased this polish remover for $12 I thought: Wow, this is expensive…I hope it’s worth it. And, reader, it is. Here’s why: While it removes polish incredibly well, it’s also very easy to use. With a standard bottle of nail polish remover, you have to invert it onto a cotton ball. But with the Zoya, you simply place the cotton ball at the top of the bottle and press down to easily saturate the cotton. And the cap twists to lock when not in use, preventing leakage
bareMinerals Gen Nude Blonzer
This blush-bronzer hybrid is my dream summertime combo. I really don’t know how to sell it better than a blush! a bronzer! all! in! one! It blends incredibly easily and has a glowy finish, too. I have the ‘Kiss of Copper’ shade, which is a bronze-y peach. It’s out of stock on Sephora, but for sale on bareMinerals. (The rose variation is available on Sephora, and I’m sure it’s equally beautiful.)
Lavivie Macreme Coasters
I’ve had these coasters for more than a year (the set of four, assorted colors) and can’t recommend them enough. Not only are they cute, but they work well and are reasonably priced. I like that you can start with a set of four and then add in extra sets of two as needed and in the color of your choice. They’ve even stood up to my dog, Fish, grabbing them off our coffee table and playing with them.
GIR Stainless Steel Balloon Whisk
This is one of my favorite balloon whisks (the other is from OXO, in case you were wondering). And I felt justified after it was named a winner in this Serious Eats review. It has a silicone-coated handle with a diamond-like pattern, which is both comfortable to hold and keeps your hand in place. Call me a sucker for a cute print, but I own the ‘Sprinkles’ whisk and find it adorable.
OXO Brew Compact Cold Brew Maker
I’m a hot coffee year-round gal, but for a midday pick-me-up, iced coffee’s where it’s at. This cold brew maker is easy to use: you load the grounds into the container, add water through the showerhead (which helps with even saturation), and wait. When it’s time to strain, you place the grounds container on top of the maker’s glass carafe and let it drain. I like that the glass carafe comes with a cork stopper and that it’s compact (I find a lot of other cold brew makers to be too bulky and hard to store in the fridge).
Simplehuman Kitchen Dish Drying Rack
I wanted this dish rack for years (it’s an investment) before buying it in 2019. It securely holds a large amount of dishes, has a wine glass rack and prongs to dry glasses, has a spout that directs water back into the sink, and has removable parts for easy cleanup and/or sanitization. Plus, it looks pretty great even after three years of daily use. This newer, 2022 model comes with some extra features like “invisible moisture control” that I can’t attest to, but the design seems to be nearly identical. It’s also worth noting that simplehuman’s customer service is fantastic.
