Welcome to volume four! Before we get into this week’s list, I’d like to give a nod to this TikTok video. I followed the tutorial and as someone who’s distinctly not talented and painting their own nails, was able to create cute flowers using Q-tips (Q-tips!). Now, onto it:
K Knodel Desk Mat
I work from home, which means my desk set up is very important. I’ve been using this mat for about two years and it triples as an all-around non-slip surface, mousepad, and desk protector—so you can place a cup of coffee anywhere on it and not worry about using a coaster. Plus, it’s affordable and comes in three sizes and 10 colors (I have purple).
LapGear Lap Desk
In the spirit of WFH, I’d also like to recommend this lap desk. For those that prefer to work from their laptop on the couch, a comfy chair, on the patio, etc, investing in this $35 desk keeps your hot computer off your lap and elevates it, which I find makes it comfier to type. The desk has a ridge that keeps things in place and an indent in the upper righthand corner, which perfectly fits your phone. I have the Grey Damask print, but would’ve gotten Blue Blossoms if it was available when I purchased mine.
Vaseline Cocoa Shimmer Jelly Stick
This stick:
Works on your lips, cuticles, etc.
Smells amazing.
Provides a pretty, light shimmer—I like using it on my collarbones for a summery glow.
And while I had to order mine for delivery, it says it’s available at most Targets.
Dove Refillable Deodorant Starter Kit - Sensitive
When I switched over to natural deodorant some years ago, it wreaked havoc on my underarms. As in, I got a rash I had to see a dermatologist for and was subsequently told to not use natural deodorant. Because I trust my dermatologist with my life, I listened. But I was also scared to use any deodorant (see: rash). That is, until I got this one from Dove, which comes with reusable stainless steel packaging and is hypoallergenic—formulated for sensitive skin. I’ve been using it for nearly a year without issue and have found the refills easy to swap in (they twist on). There are plenty of negative reviews on Amazon citing that the deodorant portion snaps off prematurely. I have had this happen to me once, but it occurred when I applied the deodorant with a particular amount of vigor.
The It Girl by Ruth Ware
I’m a huge Ruth Ware fan (as in, I’ve read all of her books). And her newest knocked it out of the park. You can read my review here but some highlights include: Past and present chapters, dark academia (Oxford!), a wrongly accused killer, and an ending I was 100% satisfied with.
Maggie
I’ve been enjoying this new show from Hulu, which features a psychic grappling with her gift, job, and love life. I’ve found it enjoyable—an easy show to watch while you’re cooking or wanting to unwind. The episodes are only about 20 minutes long, too, so you really fly through the season. (Side note: I want Maggie’s closet.)
